GROW Program

What is GROW?

Growing Outcomes in Watersheds (GROW) is a new initiative that recognizes the valuable role farmers play in improving the health of the agricultural landscape. GROW is a made-in-Manitoba approach to encourage and support the delivery of ecological goods and services (EG&S) in Manitoba.  Identified under the Water Pillar in Manitoba’s Climate and Green Plan, GROW focuses on watershed health, management and resiliency.

How is it funded?

The Conservation Trust was established in 2018 with a $102.0 million contribution from Manitoba to The Winnipeg Foundation (TWF) to establish an endowment fund to generate annual revenues for conservation projects. Manitoba also established the GROW Trust with a contribution of $52.0 million to support the new Growing Outcomes in Watersheds (GROW) program that is being delivered by Watershed Districts throughout Manitoba. In 2019, Manitoba also established the Wetlands GROW Trust with a $50.0 million contribution to support the protection of critical wetlands. In total, Manitoba has provided $204.0 million to endowment funds that will generate around $10.0 million annually for conservation.
